Utah Senator - Robert Bennett, at whose urging the provision was added to the bill in the first place, has ironically announced he will vote against the bill.

In the meantime, NIRS announced today that 243 organizations and small businesses, and including musicians Bonnie Raitt, Graham Nash and Paul Winter, urged the Senate to remove the $50 billion in nculear power and "clean" coal pork from the stimulus bill.

The letter and signatories can be viewed at: http://www.nirs.org/neconomics/lgltrsigners.pdf.

On February 2, twenty national environmental and consumer groups also urged the Senate to drop the loan guarantee provision. That letter is at: http://www.nirs.org/neconomics/finalsenateletteronstimulusbill.pdf
