I'm afraid that you have not even mentioned the half of it.

Producing one kilogram of beef leaves a carbon equivalent of driving in a car for three hours and leaving the lights on (<a href="http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg19526134.500" rel="nofollow">source </a>).

Also, check out this recent analysis by Goodland and Anlang which claims that we have woefully underestimated the amount of carbon that cattle are responsible for (<a href="http://www.worldwatch.org/files/pdf/Livestock%20and%20Climate%20Change.pdf" rel="nofollow">PDF) </a>.

Here is my question: when are university students going to start boycotting burger places?

THINK of ALL the jobs created!!

WONDERFUL for the FREE ENTERPRISE, CAPITALISTIC system in the USA.
Cuba does not enjoy such economic greatness.
Manmade global warming-finally proven to be a hoax- means plants will enjoy more food to grow.
GOD bless America.
GOD protect us from liberals.

I found that nasty looking burger, its in the basement cafeteria of the building that the Texas PUC is located in. Outstandingly nasty.
It was good to see that they finally upgraded the lighting in the building to high efficiency t-8 lighting. To bad the AC was on and the big meeting room was below 68 degrees and it was only 55 outside.

Here is a guide on how to find fast food when you need it, I wonder if it tells you how close the nearest coal plant is to provide the seasoning for the menu.

Something that's not covered much is the effect of super-sized fry's. Potatoes used in restaurant french fry's required little or no irrigation previously, with the advent of the super sized fry, hundreds of millions of gallons of fresh water are used annually to grow potatoes that are long enough to stick up out of the top of those super sized containers. Super-sized droughts ahead.

It's really amazing to think of the impacts that come from what seems like such a small act. Out of all the things you mentioned, the production of the meat itself has the biggest impact of all...the last statistic I read said that meat production is responsible for half of all greenhouse gases.
