You realize, of course, that once you eliminate all baseload power sources such as coal gas and nuclear, and are wholly dependent on intermittent power sources such as wind and solar, that rolling blackouts will become the norm.
So…. when your “smart grid” shuts off your A/C on the hottest day of the year (and it will), don’t come complaining to me.
CitizenMeresa, I didn’t see anything in this article about anything other than 1. Right now we should be careful to conserve energy. And 2. RIGHT NOW WE SHOULD BE CAREFUL TO CONSERVE ENERGY.
Who are you? Why would I ever go crying to you about anything? Did you wake up this angry, or did you get cut off in traffic on the way to the office? You have contributed nothing. Congrats.
Wait! I have a way to solve all of our problems! Why don’t we find some way to harness the energy that people spend being internet know-it-alls?! I’m sure the current output would be enough to power everything on 1,000 earths for 1,000 million years. Hooray!
